Overview

MacroFanatic is a free nutrition tracking app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service and do not sell your data.

Data We Collect

When you create an account and use MacroFanatic, we collect:

  • Personal details — age, sex, height, and weight, used to calculate your calorie and macro targets.

  • Activity level — used alongside your physical stats to estimate your daily energy expenditure.

  • Food logs — the meals and foods you log each day, stored to track your progress over time.

  • Community food entries — when you scan or add a food that is not already in the database, that entry is shared with all MacroFanatic users to help grow the community food database.

  • Account information — your email address, used for account access and support.

How We Use Your Data

  • To calculate and display your personalised calorie and macro goals.

  • To store and display your food logs and progress over time.

  • To grow and improve the shared community food database.

  • To send transactional emails related to your account (password resets, etc.).

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.

Community Food Database

When you scan a barcode or manually add a food item that does not already exist in the MacroFanatic database, the food entry (name, nutritional values, and barcode if applicable) is added to the shared community database and becomes visible to all users. Personal information is never attached to community food entries.

Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and food logs are permanently deleted. Community food entries you contributed will remain in the shared database as they are no longer linked to your account.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the MacroFanatic app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes all your personal data and food logs from our systems.

Children's Privacy

MacroFanatic is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
